:: about the film

a group of friends from rodwood, ontario decide to throw the greatest rave their small town has ever seen. the plan is set, the music is locked, the word is out.

but in the blink of an eye, everything falls apart, sending the crew on a race against time. the creation of local legend is at stake...

yqg hardstyle is a coming-of-age crime thriller about friendship, chaos, and the desperate need to make something happen in a place where nothing ever does. shot across windsor-essex county and toronto on the sony fx3.

Writer / Director / Actor

Nathan St. Louis is a writer, director, and cinematographer from Windsor, Ontario. A graduate of the University of Windsor with time spent at Solent University in Southampton, England, Nathan has developed a distinctive visual style through his work in independent cinema. He is best known for his films Morphling, Nineteen at the End of the World, and Elora, as well as his award-nominated cinematography work on several short films. His projects often explore youth culture, identity, and life on the fringes of small-town communities. Nathan is currently writing, co-directing and starring in YQG Hardstyle.

ALEX DJORDJEVIC

Writer / Director / Actor

Alex Djordjevic is a Director, Actor, Editor, Cinematographer and Photographer based in Windsor, Ontario and a graduate from the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film. Alex's passion for storytelling began in 2011, while launching a YouTube channel at the ripe age of six years old, and has been continuously creating ever since. His most recent works include camera work on "Luna" and "Elora" and directed "Angel Dust" and "Divine Burden", which is currently in a festival run. Alex is currently writing, co-directing and starring in YQG Hardstyle.

MARI TERRAN

Mari Teran is a director, editor and production designer from Windsor Ontario. Known for their films "DATAMOSH", Horns in the Bush, and their work on Archivum and more. Their films often focuses on the local arts community in Windsor Ontario, often collaborating with fashion designers, musicians and dancers. They focus on making their work look as colourful and obnoxious as them 😛. They Currently are Art director and one of the leads in YQG Hardstyle.

JULIA MACDONALD

Writer / Script Editor / Actor / Assistant Editor

              A filmmaker, writer, and photographer based in Windsor, Ontario, and a graduate of the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film. Julia is known for an experimental approach to film and photography, with a keen eye for raw, emotionally driven storytelling. Their recently directed film Luna — inspired by works like Mysterious Skin and Thirteen — is currently on a festival run. On YQG Hardstyle, Julia serves as writer and script editor while also appearing on screen as a member of the cast.

EVAN JOHNSON

Director of Photography

              An award-winning filmmaker, editor, and sports content creator from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. A graduate of the University of Windsor's Communication, Media and Film program, Evan is known for his work with UWindsor Athletics, earning OUA Awards for Best Social Media, Best Promotional Video, and Best Feature Video. He served as director of photography and editor on Penitence, which received eight awards at WIFF. His most recent short Apple Pie — for which he was also DP and editor — is currently streaming nationally on CBC and CBC Gem. Evan is the Director of Photography on YQG Hardstyle.

              Windsor-born Canadian filmmaker and President of Mimetic Entertainment. One of Canada's most inventive indie directors, known for pushing the formal boundaries of cinema. Directed The Scarehouse (2014) — released by NBCUniversal/D Films and distributed to Blu-ray, DVD, and Showtime — winner of Best Feature at the NYC Horror Film Festival. His follow-up Last Call (2019) was named "one of the best films of 2021" by Harper's Bazaar. Also directed Fifteen (2015) for Blumhouse Productions — the world's first live-broadcast horror film — and served as showrunner on Dreamcrusher. 100+ music video credits including Third Eye Blind and SYML.

Director / Producer / Editor — Smog Town Films

              An award-winning Canadian filmmaker based in Windsor, Ontario. Making short films and music videos since high school, Amlin has worked across producing, editing, directing, and writing. His films have screened at festivals nationally and internationally, including WIFF, Stuff MX (Mexico), London International Film Festival, Airdrie Film Festival, Essex DocFest, MOFF, Portland Comedy Film Festival, Killer Valley Comedy Festival, American Golden Picture International Film Festival, and more. His short Stay (2020) won Best Short Film at numerous festivals as well as Best Quarantine Film at several pandemic-era showcases. Best known for Stay (2020), Halloween Heroes (2020), and The Backhand (2020).
